How does the hidden compartment work?
How does the hidden compartment work?
Our hidden compartments use an RFID/NFC locking mechanism for quick and discreet access.
Each unit includes:
- Two NFC access cards (one of which is a master card)
- Two NFC key rings
The master card allows you to register additional compatible NFC cards, tags or devices. Compatible NFC-enabled smartphones may also be registered, allowing you to unlock the compartment with a simple tap of your phone.
What happens if the batteries run out?
What happens if the batteries run out?
The lock will notify you when the batteries are running low (by making a longer sound), usually giving you approximately 5–10 more unlocks before they need replacing.
Should the batteries run out completely, the lock is designed to remain unlocked until new batteries are installed or current ones recharged. This means your belongings will not become permanently trapped inside the compartment.
What happens if I lose my card?
What happens if I lose my card?
There is no need to worry. Every unit includes x4 access options from the start: two NFC cards and two NFC key rings.
You can also use the master card to register additional compatible cards, tags or devices. We recommend programming at least one spare and keeping the master card in a safe location outside the hidden compartment.

Does the NFC lock secure all of the drawers or just the lid?
No. The electronic lock controls only the hidden compartment.
- On the SHADOW and PHANTOM, the lock secures the concealed upper section. The standard drawers remain unlocked.
- On the MIRAGE, the lock secures the concealed lower compartment.
This allows the visible drawers to function like normal furniture while keeping the hidden section separately secured.

The MIRAGE hidden compartment is discreetly integrated into the lower section of the unit.
Once the NFC lock has been released, the concealed bottom panel can be lifted to access the storage space underneath.

No. GhostSystems products are designed as discreet furniture with concealed storage and are manufactured primarily from engineered wooden boards.
They are intended to keep personal belongings hidden and organised, but they are not certified fireproof safes. For documents or valuables requiring tested fire protection, we recommend using a certified fire-resistant container inside the hidden compartment.
